What do farmers and ranchers in Montana have in common with farmers in California?
The answer is that both rely on water and both need a government that does not pass laws and legislation that will needlessly destroy their livelihood. In actions that can only be described as lacking the most basic humanity, the U.S. Congress has turned off the water to Central Valley farmers in California, leaving their land dry, their fields fallow, and their dreams and ambitions scattered in the dust. Why should you be concerned? Thousands of Americans have been thrown out of work due to irresponsible and senseless Federal regulations. The federal government has shut off the water to these farms in the middle of a drought. This once fertile farmland, which provides 14% of our food crops, is being turned into a dust bowl. Some parts of the Central Valley have a 40% unemployment rate. If the government is allowed to usurp private property rights in California, they can (and will) do it in Montana too! You will soon be paying for the damage caused by your government through higher food prices. Tea Party Patriots from across the nation are organizing three relief relays from east to west, and driving across the country donations to assist the farmers who have been forsaken by their own government in what has become California's Katrina. Along the way we will pressure the U.S. Congress to pass the necessary legislation immediately to turn on the water, and keep it on. "What can be done to one of us can be done to all of us."
Everyone who is concerned about these serious issues that affect our country is encouraged to attend. Monetary donations will be accepted to restock food pantries in the Golden State's San Joaquin Valley, the nation's now crusty "bread basket."
